Playing Catch Up

Because things have been so crazy I have been playing catch up on pretty much everything. This post will be about Christmas gifts (super late... I know). Before I show you the gifts I made I just want to thank you for being patient with me. Having your husband across an ocean, moving your life to another state, trying to readjust to living with your parents after being independent for a few years, trying to adjust to "single" mommy life, among other things is for the birds! It's been a crazy ride and I'm ready for a break. So moving on to the gifts...

The first gift I made was a scarf for my grandmother. I drew her name for the family gift swap and she can be very hard to buy for. My first thought was that she loves blue and brown so while looking at Michaels during a yarn sale, I found the perfect yarn. It was a bulky blue and brown variegated. I used my pattern for the Simply Simple Cowl which can be found on Ravelry here. I did add a few extra chains so it could be wrapped a 3rd time or be left as a loose 2 wrap cowl. She loved it!! She has had to use it multiple times with our crazy bipolar GA weather. I think it was a great choice!

Another gift I made was a scarf for my mom. I had been working on a scarf for a friend and she said how she loved it and, "Where was hers?" Little did she know I had already bought the yarn and was completely finished with it. It was hiding in my room so she had no idea. I used a bulky black and gray variegated yarn for hers and it came out so cute! I used Fiber Flux's Pavement Infinity Scarf that I found on Ravelry. It worked up really quick (like within 2 hrs quick!!). It came out great!

I think my favorite gift I made was for my aunt. She is a huge Alabama fan. She also loves coffee. So what better gift to give her than a houndstooth coffee cozy!! I used ELK- Studio Handcrafted Crochet Designs  pattern for the Infinity Hounds tooth scarf and just adapted it into a coffee cozy. I chose my starting chains by looking at other basic cozy patterns and seeing what they started with. and I just whip stitched the ends together when I finished. It came out so cute and ready for my favorite Bama fan to use!

I made a couple more gifts I just didn't get the pictures of them before I gave them (Silly me!!) But I will give you the pattern for the boot cuffs I made. They came out super cute and I will definitely be making more. The pattern I used was Crochet Dreamz Brooklyn Boot Cuffs pattern.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
